If you have an active blog, you may find that your old items fall mostly forgotten. In fact, they are buried under all the new articles you write daily.
A simple example: if you write two articles a week, your blog will total 100 articles after one year! If they are not well indexed by Google, you can be sure that nobody will read them.
Here are 10 tips to dig up your old items from your Blog ...
1. Develop an idea
If you wrote an article that has generated some interest a few weeks ago, try to create one again by bringing additional information. This article will of course referring to the original. You can also use comments from your readers as fuel for the new article, which will encourage further comment.
2. Contradict yourself
Instead, why you can not attack the subject from a completely different angle.
You decide that your original point of view was wrong and explain to your new article on why and how!
This is what I did for example with articles 7 reasons to join and stay on Facebook and 7 reasons to leave Facebook.
3. Update your old items
One of the experts called on Thierry Roget. His blog covers topics similar Around the Web (he regularly presents compilations of sites). Take the example of one of these articles: 18 ways to send mails in the future (Maj differemail). You can see he has put in brackets the site he has added to its list. And he does every new discovery. Take a look at the URL and you will notice that initially there were only 13!
4. Create a thematic
If you write a lot about a specific topic, consider creating a ticket collecting your best articles. That's what I do on Around the TUT with my series of tutorials for WordPress. As I ponds as a new tutorial, I am updating the article together all.
5. Keeping comments open
Some blogs are closing comments after an article is past the date. In many cases it is good practice to reduce spam (moderation makes it easier). In some cases, however, these items can revive an old discussion, reviving the article or even give the inspiration for a new ticket.
6. Start a series of articles devoted to archives
Since my debut Around the Web, I constantly seeks a way to revive my archives. Since November, I finally found a solution that seems interesting (the comments I received I have advanced). I set up a series entitled A year ago on Around the Web. Each month now, I highlight a selection of ten items which made the previous year.
Another example, Lionel's Blog Websourcing offers us every Monday its booster shots! Again, it is to revive his old articles.
7. Recycle on social networks
Facebook and Twitter are great platforms to break out your old items. With Facebook, you can take two minutes of your time to find an old article and promote it on your Facebook Fan page (I have not found any automated solution so if someone knows one that manifests itself in the comments icon wink 10 Tips to unearth the ancient items in your blog).
As with Twitter, why you can not install a WordPress plugin (Tweet Old Post) will automatically manage the system by picking an article in your archives and the tweeter (Me I'm not a fan of this method).
8. Popular Articles / Categories / Archive / Similar Items
This trick is pretty basic, yet I can still come across blogs that do not offer such options! Give everything a visitor needs. Put yourself in the shoes of a new player who lands on your blog. While appreciating the content that you suggest to him he goes rummaging through every nook and cranny of your blog?

Periodically, I update tab on Best of the Web Around. And when I look at my stats, I noticed that a number of visitors come here to take a look. I'm not saying that we must identify all of your blog in this tab but just remember the best of the best!
