Are search engine optimization programs like SeNuke (often known as SeoNuke) and BruteForceSEO black hat or white hat? This question does not necessarily present a black and white (no pun intendedwell maybe a little) answer.
Many internet sites list SeoNuke as black hat software, which I set out to find. If SeoNuke was blackhat software, then it must break certain rules set by the search engines, like Google, Yahoo and Bing. So the question becomes, does SeNuke really break these rules, and was it designed for this purpose?
First, let's define what "black hat" SEO is. Black Hat search engine optimization is usually defined as techniques that are used to get higher search rankings in a manner that's contrary to search engine rules, unethical, and in short, cheating. Some common black hat SEO techniques include breaking search engine rules and regulations, creates a poor user experience directly because of the black hat search engine optimization techniques utilize d on the Web site, and/or unethically presenting content in a different visual or non-visual way to search engine spiders and search engine users. Examples of such strategies are keyword stuffing, invisible text, doorway pages, hidden links, and link farming.
Neither SEONuke or BruteForceSEO ultimately set out to break any of these rules, or create poor user experiences for the user. The closest thing to black hat that either software can be accused of as link farming (which is actually where a group of websites link to one another to create multiple backlinks, which ultimately help SEO at least used to), but in reality, the programs simply create links the same way an individual would, only doing it automatically. This, to me, makes it white hat SEO.
There is some validity to the argument that creating emails using fake names to submit articles and links might be a black hat tactic, it's fairly unrealistic to believe that all emails actually belong to the person named. False names also don't violate terms of service in SEO.
The software CAN in fact be used for black hat strategies, but that is a function of the user, not the software, as it's intended as a tool for promoting quality websites, not as a blackhat software.
Final Summary
BruteForceSEO is powerful, but is a bit difficult to use and understand. There are some bugs and awkward parts that can be frustrating, but once you're used to it, it can produce pretty amazing results (although the claims of dominating the first page of Google in 30 minutes are exaggerated). Odds are the average person will get frustrated before becoming adept enough to get the desired results however. As with SeNuke, the system is designed to be white hat for quality websites, although unscrupulous people could use it for spam.
In the right hands, SEONuke is an incredibly powerful product, and used correctly, coupled with good old fashioned hard work, can provide excellent results. It is relatively easy to use, and surprisingly bug-free, save for rare problems with connections because of various sites they use changing their p arameters (which is fixed in a timely fasion). Used as designed, the techniques are white hat, and should not cause any problems with the search engines. The instructions and videos make it very easy to learn and understand, and is well worth a look.
